Was it the Year of the Women in 2008?

    December 31st, 2008

As one year inches towards the end and evolves into the beginning of another, many look back upon the year that has passed. So many exciting things took place in 2008. Many of them ground breaking all around the world. The US election was for the world—certainly one of many ground breaking opportunities to watch change take place in the United States.

Social Media Wins in 09 Marketing Plans

    December 30th, 2008

In most of my postings I have not really shared too many articles dedicated to stats. Boy would my father be proud of this post! As an academic who focused on research and statistics, the facts do always lie in the numbers he would be sure to remind me! There is no question that brand evangelism in 09 will be driven by customer engagement. In these economic times that will affect the entire world—companies will need to utilize tools and marketing channels that will allow them to have a conversation with their customers. These conversations and the sharing of information will be a strong determinate to how you build your brand, share your story—the story that will engage and resonate with your target market.

Timeless and Time-Tested Warren Buffett Watch Predictions

    December 28th, 2008

I am definitely a Warren Buffet fan. I have told all of my friends and family as well as business colleagues that I see only success for our company. I have named myself “Nicole Warren Buffet Mckinney” and see only a steady stream of positive opportunities as we approach 2009. With that said many take time to reflect as the last days of the year wind down and come up with resolutions that they set for the incoming year. Most times those resolutions are long forgotten as the New Year arrives and everyone gets into the flow of the holiday season now past.

In the spirit of sharing at this time of year I wrote about viral marketing in my last post. 2009 is now just around the corner and the premier focus will definitely be answering the question—how will you engage your consumer with the goal of building brand evangelists one person at a time? What is Viral Marketing?

    December 23rd, 2008

I thought this topic was quite apropos as a lot of what we read in blogs such as this one is viral. We receive and share information about things we are interested in. We sign up for blogs or newsletters and many of us share the information we receive with others who we know will be interested in having the info, who then do the same thing—pass it on.

    Women and the Media

    December 22nd, 2008

As a women run and owned company we always want to find information and resources that will propel women forward, while educating and informing businesses on how they too can better target this most important demographic. They say that this is “the age of diversity.” And thanks to the election of Barack Obama, President elect for the United States, and the media coverage that election process has garnered, that description certainly seems to ring true.

    Voluntary Harvesting—Brilliant!

    December 19th, 2008

Yesterday I wrote about the entrepreneurial business trend website and newsletter Springwise. I would be remiss if I didn’t follow-up with its sibling, trendcentral. As noted on the their home page, they describe themselves as:

    Making Space for Women Entrepreneurs.

    December 18th, 2008

I have been extremely interested in trends for years. I love to read a broad range of newsletters that cover all sorts of cultural topics. Springwise, in particular, is a terrific newsletter that covers business innovations for entrepreneurial minds. It’s one of the world’s leading sources of new business ideas—powered by a network of 8000 + spotters. Pretty darn cool!!

    The Internet is Wide Open

    December 17th, 2008

One of the best things about the internet is that it is an open forum for everything. Blogs such as this one have the opportunity to use the format as a means to speak about what most interests the writer while attracting readers who will keep coming back to hear what the writer has to say (presumably, because they like what the writer has to say or, at least, how they say it!). In our blog, we want to continue to discuss a variety of topics that focus on marketing to women, while also exploring how we feel about social causes and the things we believe in, interesting marketing and advertising campaigns, projects and companies with products and services that catch our eye and so on. (I’m sure there are many more things that we will cover and want to cover that I cannot begin to even think about as this post is written)

Community Organizing is a Worldwide Opportunity.

    December 16th, 2008

This is definitely the time of year when we start focusing more on how we can contribute to the well being of others. For some, it’s providing clothes, food and toys at local drives; for others, it’s working at a shelter so that each and every person has a hot meal over the holiday season. The holidays are always a time to see those we care about and celebrate all that we are all grateful for. But my hope, and wish, for the coming year is that we all begin to set our sights on how we can take action in our communities and find ways of lifting everyone up all year long. How great would it be if everyone were committed to ensuring that the basic needs of food, shelter, jobs and education for all children were actually met so that we all can flourish?
