Pivots for Change. What Choice Will You Make?

    March 12th, 2009

I just love today’s post. I love it because I believe that the economic change we are currently living with allows for 2 choices: see the opportunities and make the kind of changes that allow and plan for success now and in the future, or panic and cut back (or out) everything—including potentially beneficial innovations that could make pivotal changes in how you do business and what your branding or messaging is, while allowing you to change direction in what you’re offering and how it will be delivered. Be bold—take steps to use the technology not just from an implementation point but as a resource to get you to think out of the box. Find ways to use what you have but apply it to what will solve the problems and fill the needs of the clients you have now. This will ultimately position you for future growth and longevity, long past this transition we find ourselves in now.

Are you Getting a Return on Design?

    March 8th, 2009

It  is no secret by now that I’m a huge fan of Seth Godin. His insights are timely, witty and always thought provoking. I thought this post particularly reflected who we are as a company. I think many times design takes a back seat to marketing planning dollars as there is not a physical ROI that can be seen. No, you cannot write a specific dollar amount on your balance sheet. HOWEVER, that dollar value you’re looking to see on your statement can hinge on the quality of your design. Your identity, your product and services all have a visual component that conjures up thoughts, feelings and ultimately a commitment to purchase or not to purchase your offering.

Facebook Revamps for Quick News and a New Audience.

    March 4th, 2009

One of the things that I have not written about is Facebook. It is now growing bigger than a tall building, faster than a speeding bullet and making in-roads into other social media applications. Most of us now have a Facebook page or know of someone that does. We all know that Facebook became one of the key operatives in the Obama Presidential campaign. It has now gone from a way to connect with friends, to a viable tool for businesses to share information, values and build that all important brand equity that is now becoming a best asset in this new economy.

Ted Talks—Evan Williams: How Twitter’s spectacular growth is being driven by unexpected uses!

    March 3rd, 2009

For those of you that are not familiar with the TED talks, TED stands for technology, entertainment and design. It started out in 1984 as a conference bringing together those three types of people from those three worlds. Since then its scope has become even broader with talks from those you know and are familiar and those that are spectacular that you might not recognize. I could stay on this site day in and day out listening to these talks. So much facinating information, so much creativity and so much passion. It is truly addictive.  In their archive there are more than 200 talks, each limited to 18 minutes.

California’s Biggest Women-Owned Bond Counsel Takes Stock as It Turns 20

    March 1st, 2009

One of the things I want to continue to do with my blog postings is share with you the wins of admirable companies. Not just those that are run by women but those that are also taking stock of how they can better market to women and, of course, enhance how they market to everyone. One-to-One marketing continues to be important. But one-to-many, where social media now has the power through the many channels that most of us now participate, enables all of us to share ideas, information and pass it on to others.
