This is such a clever video posted on Youtube. I found it via a few different tweet feeds on Twitter. It really shows the divergence between the advertiser and the consumer. I think that everyone in the advertising and marketing business both b2b and b2c are finally getting the idea that it’s now time to listen. Interactive technology gives everyone that power. Most importantly, it is the consumer that hold the postion of CEO.
We all need to change our thoughts regarding the roles of marketing and advertising structure from days gone by and listen to what the people have to say! I know it will be worth it!
Here you go people! Today’s post is a great example of how Social Media can help you build your brand. Josh Bernoff, VP at Forrester Research and Co-author of the book Groundswell, provides a quick case study that shows you that the “proof is in the pudding” when customers are engaged about something they are passionate about. The book, by the way, should be required reading for everyone. If you have not yet read Groundswell, I urge you to go out and get it. Read the rest of this entry »
We are currently drafting a strategic plan for a consumer goods company and I mentioned just this morning that coupons, in this new economy, are definately worth giving attention. I thought I would change the tone and theme of my post today and provide some humor as well as some inspiration. We all know Ellen Degeneres. I find her so funny. For those of you who do not know, Tulane University is located in New Orleans. As of today there are many who are suffering the ravages years later from Hurricane Katrina. A city with so much history and vibrant with culture….almost drown at the hands of mother nature. As this brave city shows its resilience, this speech from Ellen reminds each of us to be who we are. The power of believing in yourself will be the milestone that allows each one of us to make our most profound contribution. I came across this post from a daily feed called Splendora. Gina Pell, the founder of this trend zine as I like to call it, always finds such interesting things to cover on her weekly radar! Enjoy — I sure did.
My best friend in California, Debra Oakland, posted this very informational article about all the twitter tools available to you on her blog: http://www.guidetohomebasedbusiness.com/blog/. As the conversation continues to be Twitter Tweetin and with many still asking…what….how…why…..these online tools will help you navigate how to best utilize this great messaging social media tool. For many, the jury is still out as to how effective this tool will be for them; for others, they see the current value and find the format addictive. For myself, I am networking with new people—always finding all sorts of information relevant to our business—and I also use it to drive traffic to the blog you are reading now. I talk about and post many of Seth Godin’s blog posts quite regularly as he is truly one of my marketing gurus and teachers. He is very clear and concise about his explanations of how you can maximize technology for marketing success and always has a plethora of case studies of companies who have found success using the tactics of which he speaks. Oprah just got on twitter a couple of weeks ago and already has 1 million followers! This post is going to be short from my perspective as I think that the attached article is worth focusing on. I don’t have to tell anyone about the power of Oprah’s brand. In today’s Ad Age Mediaworks - Simon Dumenco, who worked with Oprah on her O Magazine Launch gave his perspective and talks about how she uses Twitter in a positve light. There is also a report that talks about Twitters retention rate thus far which teaches all of us that “just because you are on twitter—will not guarantee you a successful social media campaign.” It is an integrated strategy that wins the day in building the power of a brand. Orprah is one of the best examples of using her brand power and her success speaks for itself. Read the rest of this entry »
Everyone is using this time for change. How do we create ways to build our profile and our brand—do we truly want to sell or is there another way to yes create sales conversion? Of course. But think about what you could truly do if you laid a path and mindset—company wide—about inspiration and passion. You could engage each and every person in your company to inspire the people you do business with. Imagine sharing that kind of energy and enthusiasm…it’s electrifying! Read the rest of this entry »
Today I focus on something far more important than the world of social media, although there is a TON of room to incorporate engagement in giving back to others.
I have sat on several boards and committees over the years to raise money for causes that needed support. Some of that time it was for business networking and building the profile of the fashion industry in Toronto, which I was a member for many years. Read the rest of this entry »
It has been a while since I have focused on an article about women. As a women run and owned firm we are certainly proud to be part of this new dynamic. The article I am going to share is written by Claire Shipman and Katty Kay. I think that this article says it all about where the world is going and how important it is to focus on this most important demographic from a marketing standpoint and from a business persepective. Look at your team—do you support and encourage women in your business? Are you doing business with women run and owned companies? The attached article comes from the women owned Huffington Post and the point……”Survey after survey from California to Norway shows that women are not only good for business, but that companies that employ more senior women actually make more money. Call it Pink Profits“. Read the rest of this entry »
