A 4 Minute Video on How to Make a Social Media Splash

    December 23rd, 2009

I hope all of you are enjoying the holiday season. I thought I would post a great video today from one of  my favorite sites, TED Talks. TED’s tag is “Ideas Worth Spreading.” I couldn’t agree more and I encourage all of you to go to the www.ted.com and listen to some of the presentations. There is something for everyone who is interested in listening to stories, discovery, inspiration, education and entertainment!

With social media at the epicenter of our business and what we do for our clients, this video by Reddit’s co-founder, Alexis Ohanian, provides a quick 4 minute presentation about how to make a splash in social media. Alexis Ohanian of Reddit tells the real-life fable of one humpback whale’s rise to Web stardom. The lesson of Mister Splashy Pants is a shoo-in classic for meme-makers and marketers in the Facebook age.”

For those out there still on the fence and looking for ideas about how social media works and the result possibilities for your business, this quick presentation is chock-full of amazing information! We can all find 4 minutes for such a great  lesson! Happy Holidays.

How to Be Heard on Social Networks

    December 22nd, 2009

Hi everyone – sorry for the lack of posts the last few days. As the year comes to an end and the holiday season kicks into high gear, we here at Share are busy little elfs!

One of the most important issues for your customer is to know that when they connect with or engage with you about a challenge or concern that they are having, they will be heard. From your perspective, you want to create systems in your social media platforms that will make sure that you are listening and responding in real-time as much as possible—or within a reasonable time frame—to each concern that you receive. I think many of the applications that make social media most successful—the  tried and true basics—come in to play in these sorts of situations.

Social Media Savvy – A Reason to Hire a Partner With Hands On Experience

    December 16th, 2009

We have been in many client meetings over the last few weeks as everyone now needs to be using social media and is furiously finalizing their budgets and marketing plans for 2010. In one of the discussions with a team member, we talked about how many large businesses still have no understanding of how to leverage social media, but have decided to get engaged. Further to that, they have decided (in many cases) that they are going to apply a minimal budget, hire some interns and run it internally. The other option is to use the agency that manages their traditional work and have them manage their social media marketing. What is the outcome? Just ask Toyota about the response to their recent Yaris campaign.

Well we are now in full swing with social media and the world has caught up with us! Hurray. Social media is now a prominent tool for many retailers. Most who are using these tools are jumping in with Facebook and Twitter—to get a leg up this holiday season. Think of Social Media and Your Business Like a “Mom & Pop”

    December 9th, 2009

I remember one of the highlights of being a kid was when my parents allowed us to walk to the Quick Shop. That was the name of the closest corner store—where we would buy candy, chips and soda. The Quick Shop owners knew us and it was always such a thrill when we were able to go there unaccompanied by our parents! There were other corner stores close by, but we always went there. All the kids in the neighbourhood did.

Want to Know What A Great Viral Video Looks Like?

    December 8th, 2009

Social media is no longer a phenomenon for most businesses. Many have yet to jump into the mix, but we no longer need to spell it out for them. That’s progress people! As for where social media is going, we’re looking at web video and mobile, from my perspective. I love videos. They are funny, you get to see someone in real-time, and you can connect with and share them so easily. Many videos are funny or inspiring—and can’t we all use some humour or inspiration now and then?

Media Mania – The Lighting Speed of Viral Information

    December 3rd, 2009

Sorry for not being able to post regularly over the last few days. We have been in mass presentation mode and so the story goes……well I think that the story is Tiger Woods…..it’s been everywhere 24/7. I just saw on one of my twitter feeds that a story about the Navy Seals was quelched due to the media frenzy about Tiger Woods.
