For me, that means taking risks—putting myself out there in a way that still affords me a lifeline as I discover which risks are worth taking and which ones lead to dead ends. I especially love the ones go no where—as they allow me to see that by taking another approach I can help our business continue to be creative, innovative and unique in our offering at a time when everyone is looking to find a niche that keeps them in the game.

Everyone is trying to figure out how to leverage and court the customers they want while providing them with the fuel and fire to become brand evangelists. Most companies forget that understanding the innovators, influencers, critics, spectators and those who choose not to participate at all should become a part of the concepts and format they need to develop in order to engage their target audience.

With a background and passion for fashion and lifestyle trends, I read many blogs and ezines. Each week I receive a report from Splendora Style Forecast. Amongst the usual celebrity fashion sightings and alerts to some of fashion’s more fabulous things, Gina Pell, content chief and founder, writes and brings attention to some phenomenal issues that beautifully meld with the goings on in the world of lifestyle, fashion and culture.

I attended the opening of a new restaurant chocolate lounge last night. The theme and star of the show was chocolate in as many forms as you can imagine: drinks, truffles, sandwiches of mango, strawberry and chocolate, truffles filled with caramel and salt accompanied by champagne, guava martini’s with a spicy kick, and cognac.
