The latter part of this year has been difficult to keep up with blog writing. As an ongoing care giver for my 90 yr. old father (yes no cane, wheel chair or walker and living by himself) – helping get him back to health – has turned out to be another small business to run! I am sure there are many of you out there that can relate and for me family is always first. As we get closer to our solution of having him get back to his life…I too will be able to focus on providing you with more regular posts of interesting and thought provoking ideas, opinions and happenings in the world of technology and social media.
Search in the world of technology is the main driver and source of revenue for all of us looking to build our visibility online. “As a marketing strategy, SEO is used to increase a site’s relevance. The SEO recognizes how search organics work and what people are searching for. It also initiates efforts to include unique content to a site to ensure that its content is easily indexed by search engine robots, making it more appealing to users.”
As this year winds down it is important to reflect and see what the past year’s successes, failures, tragedy’s and challenges were- in order to help plan and build enthusiasm, goals and growth for the year ahead. I came across this video via Google Zeitgeist 2010 that provides you with a great overview of the top searches in 2010 around the globe. Great way to get the juices flowing as we all plan to search on in 2011.

Re-live top events and moments from 2010 from around the globe through search, images, and video.
I came across an article in my morning reading that included an interview with Mitch Joel of Twist Media – on the topic of connecting and engagement. I have discussed this many times on this blog since I began posting, but felt that with so many companies finally realizing that they need to leverage social media – it is worth it – to SHARE some thoughts for 2010. I hope all of you are enjoying the holiday season. I thought I would post a great video today from one of my favorite sites, TED Talks. TED’s tag is “Ideas Worth Spreading.” I couldn’t agree more and I encourage all of you to go to the www.ted.com and listen to some of the presentations. There is something for everyone who is interested in listening to stories, discovery, inspiration, education and entertainment!
With social media at the epicenter of our business and what we do for our clients, this video by Reddit’s co-founder, Alexis Ohanian, provides a quick 4 minute presentation about how to make a splash in social media. “Alexis Ohanian of Reddit tells the real-life fable of one humpback whale’s rise to Web stardom. The lesson of Mister Splashy Pants is a shoo-in classic for meme-makers and marketers in the Facebook age.”
For those out there still on the fence and looking for ideas about how social media works and the result possibilities for your business, this quick presentation is chock-full of amazing information! We can all find 4 minutes for such a great lesson! Happy Holidays.
We have been in many client meetings over the last few weeks as everyone now needs to be using social media and is furiously finalizing their budgets and marketing plans for 2010. In one of the discussions with a team member, we talked about how many large businesses still have no understanding of how to leverage social media, but have decided to get engaged. Further to that, they have decided (in many cases) that they are going to apply a minimal budget, hire some interns and run it internally. The other option is to use the agency that manages their traditional work and have them manage their social media marketing. What is the outcome? Just ask Toyota about the response to their recent Yaris campaign. Read the rest of this entry »
I know I promised I was going to use Fridays and Mondays to post more thoughts that were strictly mine—without sharing the posts of others—but this is just too good. In the digital creative agency business, our best asset is to be able to show how technology innovation works. The idea is about finding ways to get people to SHARE your brand and make it theirs—to sell products and services. THAT is what our goal and commitment is for our clients and partners.
This Youtube video from Ikea shows you a viral campaign that leveragesFacebook and how they were able to build friends, engage people in a contest and promote Ikea product. A perfect trinity! We love when this happens and love having the opportunity to do this for our clients.

This video from Youtube has been circulating around the internet and I received it from my friend and client Elke Wehinger of Botanus! Social media is here and now and YES - this video speaks for itself.
With the historic American election now completed and the world’s celebration of that change now in place, it is a new day.
A new day for everyone to review how they are going to move forward and make the kind of changes that incorporate new technologies, new ways to communicate, bring new ideas to the forefront and act upon them, engage others to take the initiative to make change, share how we can all work together to make the change that will dictate how we can live better lives than we did before.
